Privacy Policy — PilotBriefAI
PilotBriefAI ("we", "us", or "our") is operated by AVI8AI. We use information only as needed to provide the app, maintain user accounts, support aviation situational-awareness features, and manage subscriptions.
1. Information We Use
- Location data. With your permission, we use your device's GPS location to look up the nearest airport and support moving map features inside the app.
- Camera and photo library. We may request access to your camera or photo library when you choose to upload aircraft photos.
- Email and account information. We use Supabase authentication for account creation, sign-in, and account management. This may include your email address and related authentication data.
- Personal minimums. Weather limits and preferences you enter (e.g. ceiling minimums, crosswind limits) are stored in your account so they persist across devices.
- Briefing telemetry and error logs. We may use anonymized or diagnostic metadata to monitor reliability, diagnose bugs, and improve the service.
- Subscription information. Paid subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or handle your credit card number or other card payment details.
- Audio playback. PilotBriefAI may provide LiveATC streaming playback. The microphone is not used for this feature; audio is playback only.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the app.
- Authenticate you and maintain account access through Supabase.
- Find nearby airports and display moving map context when you grant location access.
- Allow aircraft photo uploads selected or captured by you.
- Generate AI-assisted preflight briefings based on the airports you enter.
- Monitor usage patterns and service reliability (anonymized).
- Verify subscription status through Apple where applicable.
- Play LiveATC audio streams requested inside the app.
- Communicate service updates, support responses, or account notices via email.
3. Location Permissions
Location access is optional and controlled by your device settings. If you deny or disable location access, nearest-airport lookup and moving map functionality may be limited or unavailable.
4. Camera and Photo Permissions
Camera and photo library access is used only when you choose to upload aircraft photos. You can manage or revoke these permissions in your device settings.
5. Account Authentication
PilotBriefAI uses Supabase to provide authentication services. Supabase may process your email address and account authentication data so you can create an account, sign in, and manage access to the app.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. PilotBriefAI does not receive your full credit card number and does not store card payment information.
7. Audio Streaming
LiveATC streaming, where available, is used for audio playback only. PilotBriefAI does not use your microphone and does not record audio from your device for this feature.
8. Third-Party Services
- Supabase — database, authentication, and edge-function hosting.
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI model used to generate briefing summaries. Briefing content is sent to Anthropic's API and is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy (https://www.anthropic.com/privacy).
- Apple — App Store subscription purchase and payment processing.
- FAA / NOAA / aviationweather.gov — publicly available aviation weather and NOTAM data fetched on your behalf.
- LiveATC.net — publicly streamed ATC audio playback.
9. Sharing Information
We do not sell your personal information. Information may be processed by service providers that help operate PilotBriefAI, such as Supabase for authentication, Apple for subscription payment processing, aviation data providers, and AI infrastructure providers used to generate requested briefing content.
10. Data Retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Anonymized briefing telemetry and error logs are retained for up to 90 days for operational monitoring.
11. Your Choices
- You can manage location, camera, photo library, and other app permissions in your device settings.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.
- You can stop using optional features, such as photo uploads or location-based features, at any time.
12. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app. Upon deletion we permanently remove your email address, personal minimums, and all briefing and error records associated with your account.
13. Children
PilotBriefAI is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
